Services

Below is a guide of the typical service types delivered:

Strategic & Advisory

This is ideal for clients who would like strategic direction, independent advice and high-level troubleshooting on an ad-hoc basis. This also works well for individuals who are responsible for IT and change but would benefit from an outside expert to consult with.

Direction

This is based on working with a client to help them resolve a specific strategic challenge they face. Either with a supplier, their strategy, their hardware, setup or software. This will involve understanding the problem, clarifying the desired future state and formulating a strategy for how they should proceed to resolve this problem and they steps which need to be taken. Alex can also be available to lead and direct the project throughout its full cycle and can be responsible for progress, management, utilising internal or external resources and reporting to the board.

Delivery

Working with clients to oversee the delivery of a specific project e.g., the selection of a new case management system. This is suited for a client who has a single strategic project, with the need for an independent advisor, expertise and resource, on a temporary basis to run an IT project, identify the right solution for their firm and then make the change happen so the new solution is adopted.

Coaching

Alex can work with an individual or a small team to coach them on how to manage IT projects within a law firm. Using his bespoke project management methodology, which has been designed specifically for law firms. An individual will be coached on each of the phases throughout the cycle of a project. This upskills existing staff to improve a firms success rate long term in regard to implementation and selection projects. This is well suited for an existing member of an IT team who can be coached on how to improve the delivery of a project in future, where and when to focus efforts to optimise the chance of success and how to report to the board.

Engagements

A basic overview

I work with between 4 and 7 clients at any one time. This is to manage availability and capacity in any one month.

For any new client there is always an initial fixed fee piece of discovery work. We will agree to place some time on account to work in a specific area (typically 3.0 days). This enables me to collate some information, ask additional questions regarding your your current position and desired future state as well as speaking with suppliers and key internal people.

From there I will be able to review the findings, consider your position and provide a recommendation on how best to move forward or achieve the desired outcomes (with or without me).

This provides an initial low cost, fixed fee piece of work to see how we might work together and provides some insight, advice and a recommendation as a quick deliverable.
